Why, yes January 20, 2009

Yes we did!

This is really a historical moment in the history of the USA.  To think that it was only 40 years ago that MLKJr was shot in Memphis.  We’ve come so far, and we should be very proud.  

It’s not racism to celebrate a milestone of a race.  It should be celebrated.  Let us not forget the trials and tribulations of those who came before us to make this day possible.  

And, a piece of Alabama history for everyone who’s interested.  Alabama was at the forefront of the civil rights movement, and I’m going to guess that Black History Month in Alabama is very different than in other classrooms across the country, because so much of the pivotal moments in that movement took place here.   If you need a reminder of just how bad things were, read some wikis.
