Starbucks gives free brewed coffee to all of our police officers in uniform. (We also give our military brewed coffee when in uniform, as well, but I don’t think that’s company wide.)
It’s one of the things that I really like about SBUX. It’s our way of saying “thanks” to the people that put their lives [...]

Everything I needed to know about life, I learned from working at Starbucks

Even though I spent most of my day at the BUX (1:45-10p.m. sucks, yo), it really wasn’t a bad day. I had good people to work with, and a steady but not crazy afternoon and evening. Things went pretty well, and then, at the end, when it’s time to tell people to GTFO, two different [...]

Within the first two hours of work this morning, I managed to seriously injure myself.
I was trying to rebrew the coffee, just like a good little coffee monkey would, and I pulled the basket out of the brewer to dump the used grinds into the basket. Somehow, between turning around from the brewer and [...]

I had problems letting harsh comments form customers roll off my back today, and there was one comment in particular that I just couldn’t shake off.
Three ladies come in for some lattes and to hang out about 10 or so this morning. One was British, and had a beautiful accent, and the other two [...]

Sometimes I want to believe in people so much that I just let things just come right out of my mouth and don’t think that people will take them wrongly, or that they will for one moment believe that I would say something malicious or mean.
But then I say something that gets me into [...]

I’m not really sure, yet, what I learned from this today. But, it’s worth sharing nonetheless!
While J and I were makin’ coffee and lattes this morning, some jerk of a man came in and started complaining about our expensive coffee or whatever. First of all, if you think it’s so expensive that you want to [...]
Why you should sleep with a barista

Because we’re used to whipped cream.
We make everything extra hot.
We know how to keep you up in the morning.
We won’t fall asleep afterwards.
We know how to make anyone smile.
We initiate conversations.
We thank and worship you over and over, even if we know you don’t deserve it!
Because even if sometimes it may only last 10 seconds, [...]
Everything I needed to know about life, I learned from working at Starbucks, part XV

It’s the Christmas season, it’s cold, and it was rainy today.
In SBUX world, this equals lots of impatient and rude customers.
After countless customers obviously not having the time of day for me, I was at the end of my rope. No one had been mean or outlandishly rude, but no one had been nice [...]

JANUARY
Who kissed you on new years?
Chris, of course
Will you kiss anyone on this new years?
Surely
Did you have a new year’s resolution this year?
Not really.
Does it snow where you live?
Not so much
Do you like hot chocolate?
when I’m in the mood.
Have you ever been to Times Square to watch the ball drop?
nope, that is one day I [...]

So, last night I received an early Christmas gift. SBUX was having a sale, and well, it was really great timing.
So now I can have lattes and cappucinos at home. Talk about spoiled!
Yum!
